Manning: "We are privatizing, whether we like it or not."

Robert Manning, the chairman of the Board of Trustees, recently announced that "We are privatizing, whether we like it or not."

President Jack Wilson described any continued reliance on state-funding as "a helix to hell."

So what does it all mean?

According to Ellen O'Connor, the vice chancellor of administration and finance at UMass Boston, "We’ll be less dependent on the commonwealth and more dependent on tuition and fees."
